Sarim Burney is Detained for Trafficking in Persons

 

Online news recently broke that well-known human rights advocate Sarim Burney had been charged and taken into custody for human trafficking. This news was shared on social media in response to the differing opinions expressed about it.

Is Sarim Burney Who? 

Sarim Burney was raised in a powerful family. Sarim had a goal to serve everyone around him and was always the friendliest person at home. This man has accomplished everything, from bringing happiness to shelter families to resolving serious issues like child marriage and poverty.

He began his foundation at a very young age, strengthening his passion for humanity and the welfare of disadvantaged and oppressed people by participating in many organizations that serve mankind. He launched Sarim Welfare Trust International 2012, his welfare initiative, shortly after. 

Complaints Made Against Sarim Burney

Just one week has passed when Sarim Burney was subjected to accusations. We were greatly mistaken about how serious these accusations were.

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) claims that he has been placed under serious remand. As further information surfaces, Sarim Burney is allegedly accused of smuggling people and abducting children overseas. On Thursday, he also made an appearance at the Margisterate East court at City Court Karachi.  

Additionally, Sarim Burney is accused of being involved in human trafficking and smuggling crimes, according to additional news. The investigating officer also asked that Sarim Burney be placed on remand so that he may record his statement, citing the necessity for additional research.

As the case progressed, we observed how Sarim Burney's attorney claimed that the investigating officer lacked proof to back up the accusations and insisted that Burney is a respected member of society whose contributions to the case are praiseworthy.

"Sarim Burney has been arrested on baseless and false charges," his attorney stated, highlighting the years of labor his client has completed. According to him, this accusation is nothing more than an attempt to damage the character of his client, who is committed to changing society. 

Sarim Burney's Position in the Matter

Sarim Burney, nevertheless, has insisted that none of that implicated him. Additionally, he stated that the accusations made against him in court were unfounded because the child in issue was delivered to a couple in a safe and better-positioned situation, and he was provided with all the necessary information, which was also sent to the US Embassy.

Later on, he insisted that he would work with the court and the inquiry team to the fullest. Then, he brought up a crucial issue in court: "Are all these kids left on their own because their parents abandoned them?" "A pre-planned podcast was recorded against me," he further stated. "I am also cooperating in this investigation," he continued. 

The court dismissed Sarim Burney's request to be released from the case and placed him under a two-day remand in view of his recent arguments and the circumstances. The IO said that the evidence was antiquated and unappealing, thus they asked for Burney's custody.

Additionally, it was stated that Sarim Burney had been taken into custody at Karachi International Airport the day before. He was the subject of severe accusations that led to his detention, including the claim that he had smuggled over 20 infants into the United States in order to preserve their adoption.

These are definitely pretty significant allegations.
